WILLIAM WALLACE GLENN "WILL" LEAR was born on 3 Aug 1868 in Blair County, Pennsylvania, the son of Atwell and Hannah Hosaflook(Hausenfluck) Lear, who were originally from Columbia Furnace, Shenandoah County, VA.

According to family genealogist, Richard "Dick" Nixon of Tucson, Arizona , William G. Lear's full name was William Wallace Glenn Lear named after William Wallace Glenn who was listed in the household of his parents in the 1870 US Census.

In 1887, William Glenn Lear married Jane Ellen "Jennie" Burk daughter of Henry Burk and Elizabeth Barkheimer Burk.
