DAVID CULVER DEAD
David Culver, aged 83, died at the home of his son, George W. Culver, 297 River street, Forty Fort Thursday afternoon of general debility. He was born in Forty Fort August 2, 1832, and for about sixty years he was ferryman on the Susquehanna river at Forty Fort. This route in his younger days was much traveled because there was a scarcity of bridges across the river in this valley. He consequently formed a large acquaintance due to coming in contact with scores of travelers daily. He was respected by all who knew him. On August 29, 1851, he was married to Nancy Ann Wise, of Philadelphia who preceded him in death. He is survived by the following children: George W. and Frederick of Forty Fort; Lewis of Hazleton; Mrs Walter Pettebone of Tunkhannock; Mrs. Sarah E. Sesauer of Gallipolis, Ohio; Mrs. Fannie Beers of Boston Mass; also two brothers, charles of Forty Fort and John of Hunlock Creek. Fifteen grandchildren and ten great grandchildren also survive. The funeral will be held from the home of his son, George at Forty Fort at 2 p.m. Sunday afternoon where services will be conducted by Rev. Joseph Welsley. Interment in Forty Fort Cemetery.
