George Sylvester Imus was born on August 25, 1889 in Albion, Calhoun, Michigan to Alpheus Raymond Imus, Sr. and Lulla Ida Price. He was a fireman for the Burlington Northern Railroad in Dilworth, Clay, Minnesota. He served in the US Army (Hay Co.) in World War I. He married Hilma Hilda Larson on June 30, 1920 in Moorhead, Clay, Minnesota. They had one son, Lyle George Imus. In June 1968 he moved to Pensacola, Escambia, Florida where his son was stationed in the Navy. He suffered a stroke on September 5, 1968 and was hospitalized at NAS Pensacola until his death on January 10, 1969. George Sylvester Imus was buried next to Hilma in Riverside Cemetery, Moorhead, Clay, Minnesota .
