Enlisted July 26, 1862 from Bethel, hatter, age 19. Wounded July 1, 1863 at Gettysburg, Pa. Discharged October 31, 1864. Also participated in Battle of Chancellorsville.

Occupation: hatter. Son of Charles and Marietta (Bassett) Edwards. Siblings were Emily Florence, Lewis Peck, Julia Inez, Charles H., William Hobart, Marietta and Blanche Evelyn. His grandparents were John C. and Lydia (Starr) Edwards, who are interred in Bethel, Conn. Married Mary Ann Hartness on March 28, 1874. Child was Charles W., who died on October 17, 1905, age 30 and who was an unmarried leather cutter, interred in Orange, NJ (St. Marks)(per NYC death certificate 4489).
