Irvin Ness, 36, Dies Tuesday of Cancer
Irvin Ness, 36, of Ruthven, died Tuesday [August 12, 1947] at 5:00 a.m. at the home of his brother, Ingolf, in Wallingford, where he and his wife had stayed since June 15. He had been ill of cancer a year or longer.

Irvin Gustav Ness, son of Iver and Gunhild Ness, was born on March 23, 1911 at Depew, Iowa. When a small boy his family moved to a farm in Twelve Mile Lake Township in Emmet County where he received his education.

In April, 1941, he was united in marriage to Cleone Oakland and he continued farming until 1944 when he bought a garage at Ruthven and did that work until ill health forced him to quit.

Mr. Ness was a member of the Ruthven Lutheran Church.

He is survived by his wife, his parents, two sisters, Mrs. I.G. Maaland of Cylinder and Mrs. Chester Anderson of Estherville; four brothers, Ingolf, Wallingford, Aadne, Estherville, Gilbert and Leonard, Osgood. He was preceded in death by a sister, Ruth, who died in 1936.

Funeral services will be held on Friday afternoon at 1:30 at the Aadne Ness home and at 2:00 at the Wallingford Lutheran church. The Rev. S.B. Knutson of Ruthven and the Rev. C.B.
