She was no doubt named after her two grandmothers, Susan Francis Taylor Fullilove (1827-1905), wife of David Durrett Fullilove (1817-1887), and Isabella McLeod Carter McSwain (1812-1876), wife of (1) Abner Carter, (2) Malcolm McSwain, Jr.(1815-1864). Susan was the first child of Charles Tatum Fullilove & Rachel McSwain Fullilove, born on January 2, 1884 in Bay Saint Louis, Mississippi. She married Edward Lucian Cowan on April 5, 1906 in Perry County, Mississippi. She died on November 9, 1936 in Bogalusa, Louisiana and was buried next to her parents in the McSwain-Carter Cemetery in New Augusta, Mississippi.
