MISSOULA – Joanie, beloved wife of Homer, passed away on Tuesday, April 23, 2013. She was born in Missoula on Sept. 30, 1936, to Larry and Mae Burdett. She was raised in Logan and graduated from Manhattan High School. On Feb. 4, 1956, she married Homer Curtis at Holy Family Catholic Church in Three Forks. They recently celebrated their 57th wedding anniversary.

Mom was a spiritual person with deep faith. She was feisty, which helped to keep her going in the past several years in spite of great adversity, and she had a great sense of humor. She loved going out to dinner, taking road trips and going to Lady Griz games with Dad. She was kind and generous, and she taught us to care for others. She comforted us several times near the end by reassuring us that she had lived a good and wonderful life. We hope we comforted her by letting her know how much she was loved and how much she truly will be missed.

Mom's greatest joys were her loving husband, Homer; her children, Sue (Charlie) Brown, Stacy (Joe) Tandy, Ray (Nancy) Curtis and Rick (Donna) Curtis; her grandchildren, Tatum (AC) Curtis, David (Stephanie) Curtis, Jadi Curtis, Jeremy (Britni) Brown and Megan (Josh) Collins-Schaber; and her brother, Joe (Susan) Burdett.

A private memorial will be held this summer, with her ashes interred at the Western Montana Veterans Cemetery. We wish to thank Lynn and the wonderful people of Country Home Estates for their kindness and compassion; Tammy and the staff of Partners Hospice for being there for Mom and us; Dr. Beck who gave us Mom for eight years after her first fall; and Drs. Autio, Thomas and Trevelline, who were always there for her.
