Mrs. Hattie June (Groce) Hilyer died in her home on Thursday evening, November 20, 1941; She was sixty-six years old. Cause of death was the result of a heart attack and a complcation of diseases. She had been in poor health for some time but her health was a shock to her friends and relatives. She was born at Scotch Hill, Clarion County, the daughter of Daniel Snyder and Sara Elizabeth (Salyards) Groce. Her husband, James MacKinter Hilyer preceded her in death of February 28, 1938. Mrs Hilyer had many friends in Clarion County who were deeply grieved at the news of her sudden passing.

At the time of her passing, Mrs. Hilyer left the following children: Clyde Sylvester Hilyer, with whom she made her home, and Leonde Wayne Hilyer also of Marienville; Mrs. Sarah (Harry) Ripley of Rexford; Mrs. Florence (Louis) Williams of New Orleans; Mrs. Inez (Robert) Anderson of Saybrook; and three sisters and two brothers survived; Mrs. Hazel Bloomster of Smethport; Mrs. Frank Harbert of Bridgeton, New Jersey; Mrs. Mayme Daley of Jamestown, New York; Cecil Groce of Seattle, Washington and Ed Groce of Foxburg.

Funeral services in her memory were held at the family home at 3:00PM Sunday November 23, 1941 with Rev. Ivan E. Rossell, of the Sheffield Methodist Church, officiating. Interment was in the Marienville Cemetery. Burial is in the North Forest Cemetery in Marienville.
