Eugene Garza, age 60, of Pleasanton, lost his fight with cancer on Friday, March 29, 2013 in San Antonio.
He served in the U.S. Army from 1969-1972, in Battery A, 2/12 Artillary Division where he earned the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal and Good Conduct Medal.
Eugene is survived by his son, Alvin Garza of Floresville; sisters, Connie Casas of Tilden and Lydia Martinez and husband Angel of Pleasanton; brothers, Orlando Garza and wife Shirley of Tilden, Daniel C. Garza and wife Minnie, Roy Allen Escobar, Pete Garza, Jr. and wife Cindy of Poteet. Eugene is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by parents, Pedro R. and Guadalupe (Martinez) Garza, Jr., and sister, Rosalinda Lopez.
Visitation will be held at Hurley Funeral Home, 118 W. Oaklawn Rd., Pleasanton, from 2:00 PM to 9:00 PM, with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 PM, Thursday April 4, 2013. Funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Andrew Catholic Church, Pleasanton, at 9:00 AM, Friday April 5, 2013. Interment will follow in Esparza Cemetery, Pleasanton.
