Earl Dierkes
Earl E. Dierkes,61 , at 106 Main Street, Powhatan Point,died Saturday at Ohio Valley Medical Center. He was born Aug. 31, 1920 in Clarington, a son of the late Frank and Nina [should read Nita Burkhalter] Burthalter Dierkes.
An employee of North American Coal Co., he was the operator of Dierkes Florest of Powhatan Point; a member of the Powhatan Point Presbyterian Church, American Legion Post #228 and a veteran of the U.S. Marines serving during World War II.
Surviving are his wife Virginia Roth Dierkes; one son, David ; and three daughters, Mrs David (Jane) Walters and Mary Dierkes, both of Powhatan Point, and Mrs.Thomas (Sally)Hotlosz of Bellaire; two brothers, Walter Dierkes of Powhatan Point, and Glenn Dierkes of Woodsfield; two sisters, Mrs. Lucille Boltz of Powhatan Point and Mrs. Ray(Freda) Moore of Miltonsburg; and five grandchildren.
Friends will be received at the Gibson -Bauknecht Funeral Home, Powhatan Point, after 7 p.m. today and all day Monday, where services will be held Tuesday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. David Brookman officating. Burial will follow in Powhatan Cemetery. Contributions ma be made to the Powhatan Libray Fund.
