Virginia Thuralene Beeley Carthrae was born January 4, 1919 in Enid, Oklahoma. She passed away peacefully on April 15, 2013 in Houston, Texas. She was born in her grandmother's house and traveled to Coldwater when she was 10 days old and graduated from Coldwater High School. Higher education beckoned and resulted in graduation from Southwestern Assemblies of God Bible College in Enid, Oklahoma in 194l. She later earned her Bachelor's and Masters' Degree from Northwestern State University, Alva, OK. Virginia was proud to be an "Okie"; however she admitted that she was also naturally very "Texas-minded," as her son and his children live in Texas. Ten years of her life was in full-time ministry, pastoring in Columbia, Mississippi and Fairview, OK; also evangelizing in Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas and New Mexico. She spent a few summers doing tent revivals with the Faye Thurman Evangelistic Association in Arkansas and Tennessee. Mrs. Carthrae taught elementary education in the Comanche County School District for 30 years. After many years of Bible teaching and ministry, she turned to teaching a ladies interdenominational Bible study in Coldwater. She took many road trips always ending up in Texas for time with her family.

She was one of two children born to the late Bessie and Ralph Beeley. She will forever be remembered by her devoted son and his wife, Ralph and Linda Carthrae; her beloved grandchildren: Chad and Shae Carthrae, Chandra Carthrae, Chera and Ben Johnson; Bob Adamson, Rick Adamson and Scott Adamson; treasured great-grandchildren: Ashley, Jacee, Elizabeth, Mindy, Morgan, Jace and Savannah; one great-great-grandchild: Chloe; one nephew: Rick Beeley and wife Sherry Coles; two nieces: Betty Doherty and Dr. Peggy Beeley and husband Tim Krenz; four great-nephews: Boyd, Ed Jr., Toby, and Josh; one great-niece: Cassandra; numerous great-great-nieces and nephews; and her cousin and eldest family member: Thelma Harper of Enid, OK. Her family along with countless friends were blessed to know her.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother and his wife: Newell and Bonnie Beeley; a nephew-in-law: Ed Doherty, Sr.; a niece-in-law: Margo Beeley; and a great-nephew: Ryan Beeley.

She loved her Lord Jesus Christ, her family, her church, her friends and her Coldwater community. She touched the lives of many people, lived her faith and maintained her caring spirit all the way until the end.
