Rev. John Edward Goins, Sr., 84, husband of Betty Jean Webber Goins, passed away Saturday, April 27, 2013 at the Medical University of South Carolina.

Born on February 23, 1929, in Georgetown County, he was a son of the late Fred M. Goins and the late Annie Mitchum Goins. Rev. Goins was the pastor at Grace Temple Revival Center. Aside from his love for the Lord, church and family, he enjoyed ministering to people, farming, playing the guitar and singing. Rev. Goins retired from International Paper Company after 39 years of service.

Survivors include his wife of Georgetown; three children, John E. Goins, Jr. (Melanie) of Georgetown, Terry L. Goins of Dallas, TX and Curtis W. Goins (Rose) of Garden City; nine grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; one daughter in law, Peggy Goins of Georgetown; one son in law, Paul Winn of Moncks Corner; and a number of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by two children, Karen Lisa Goins Winn and Douglas Wayne Goins; five brothers, Reuben Goins, Horace Goins, David Goins, Clifton Goins and Fred Goins; and four sisters, Vertie Small, Inez Lambert, Corrine Lambert and Mary Eaddy.

Funeral Services will be held at 3 PM Tuesday, April 30, 2013 in the Graham Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Aldon Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in the Pennyroyal Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Monday at Graham Funeral Home.

Flowers are accepted and memorials may be made to Grace Temple Revival Center, 27 Bluebird St. Georgetown, SC 29440.
