Wayne served his country in the U.S. Army. He was raised on a farm in Lebanon and attended school in a one-room school house. He was united in marriage to Virginia Johnson on February 2, 1957. He owned and operated Lillard Trucking Co. in Springfield for a number of years and also owned and operated Wayne's Backhoe Service and an RV Rental business in California for 20 years.
After his retirement, Wayne worked for an RV touring company and traveled the U.S. and Canda. He was a former member of the Elks Lodge.
Wayne enjoyed antique cars, he built dune buggies, and was an avid out-
doorsman who enjoyed hunting.
Preceding him in death were his parents; a son, Gary Lillard; one daughter-in-law, Peggy; three sisters, Wilma Paine, Laverne Swanson and Avril Meffan.
Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Virginia; two daughters, Linda and husband, Ken Teague, and Jeanie Shipley; one stepdaughter, Jane "Lily" Odom; one son, Wayne Dean Lillard; daughter-in-law, Mary Lillard; brother-in-law, Bob Meffan; 10 grandchildren; two step grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two step great-grandchildren.
Graveside services in Missouri Veterans Cemetery, Springfield, with full military honors.
