Launa I. "Red" Garner, 74, of Massillon was pronounced dead Saturday at 11 a.m. on arrival at the Massillon City Hospital, where he was taken after he became ill at home. He
had been ill for 13 months.

Mr. Garner was born in Tyler County, W. Va., and had retired from Republic Steel Corp., and the Fuller Brush Co. He was a member of the Church of Christ at 915 State ave NE.

He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Lovie Garner. They had celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Dec. 29, 1973.

Also surviving are four daughters, Mrs. Robert Dellarose) Koellisch, Mrs. J. L. (Fern) Cook and Mrs. Clyde (Patricia) Clark, all of Massillon, and Mrs. Bonnie Pope of Canton; three sisters, Mrs. Virginia Williams of Massillon, Mrs. Grace Underwood of Weirton, W. Va., and Mrs. Madge Smith of Belpre; three brothers, Lee Garner of Massillon, Kenneth Garner of Findlaysville, Pa., and Carl Garner of St. Albans, W. Va.; 11 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be held Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. at the Arnold-Lynch Funeral Home with Evangelist John Hamilton of the Church of Christ officiating. Interment will be made in the Brookfield Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home tonight from 7 to 9.
