In 1942 he entered the US 14th Air Force with a group named The Flying Tigers. He served in India-Burma-China, Singapore and Australia. He was discharged in 1946 and joined the Greenville City Police where he became a detective serving 21 years. He retired from the Police in 1968 and became employed with Bi-Lo where he was Personnel and Security Director. He traveled the two Carolinas and Georgia and opened 40 new Bi-Lo Stores.
Surviving are 2 sons; J. Carlton "Carl" Perry and wife, GiGi and Thomas C. "Tom" Perry and fiance, Karen Conners; a sister, Gladys P. Jennings; a grandson, Miller Thomas Perry and 2 great grandchildren.
Services will be held 2 pm Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2012 in Mackey Mortuary Chapel. Visitation will be Tuesday evening 6-8 pm. Burial will follow the service in Woodlawn Memorial Park.
