He was born August 20, 1920 in Thurber to George T. Onstott and Faye Bell (White) Onstott. Pete was a retired self employed masonry contractor, and formerly with BFW Construction in Belton. He was a U.S. Army Veteran, trained as a welder but spent most of WW2 as a military police officer and prison guard.
Pete married Grace Blackwell on May 1, 1940 in Goldthwaite. He was a resident of Bluffton since 1984, having moved here from Bryan.
He was a member of the Buchanan West Baptist Church in Buchanan Dam. Pete was preceded in death by his parents, an infant daughter Grace Ruth Onstott, 4 sisters, and 2 brothers.
Survivors include his wife, Grace Onstott of Bluffton, daughter, Linda Poe and her husband Kenneth of Llano, son, A.W. Onstott and his wife Patricia of College Station.
He is also survived by 5 grandchildren, Chris, Krystina, Khara, James, and Troy, 8 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services were held Saturday, November 8, 2008 at 10:00 AM at the Buchanan West Baptist Church in Buchanan Dam with Mr. Randy Richardson officiating. Burial followed at Bluffton Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers were the deacons from Buchanan West Baptist Church.
