William J. Waniger, 70, of 216 Clark St., Manitowoc, died unexpectedly of a
coronary attack at home at 8:30 a.m. Saturday.
Funeral services will be at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday at Pfeffer Funeral Home and at
9 a.m. at St. Paul Catholic Church, Manitowoc. The Rev. Richard Heyman will officiate and burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
Mr. Waniger was born Feb. 5, 1894, in the Town of Manitowoc Rapids, son of the late Joseph and Theresa Brunner Waniger. He resided on the home farm until coming to Manitowoc where Sept. 16, 1919, he married Ella Eisner at St. Boniface Catholic Church. The couple resided five years at Sturgeon Bay, returning to Manitowoc in 1945. He attended St. Joseph School, Alverno.
Before his retirement five years ago he had been employed as a crane operator by Manitowoc Shipbuilding Inc., and Manitowoc Portland Cement Co. A veteran of World War I, he served as a private with Army Headquarters Company and had a year’s service in France.
Surviving are his wife, two daughters, Mrs. Melvin Cerull of Milwaukee and Mrs. Robert Hall of Manitowoc; three sisters, Mrs. Agnes Kaufmann and Mrs. Sal Simon of Manitowoc and Mrs. Mary Wolf of Chicago; six brothers,
Frank of California, Edward and Leo of Manitowoc, Arthur of St. Nazianz, Adrian of Colby, Wis., and Bernard of Collins; and seven grandchildren.
Two brothers, Martin and Joseph, preceded him in death.
Friends may call at the funeral home after 3 p.m. Monday where the Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m.
