A leader in commercial aviation, Thomas Davis founded and became the president of Piedmont Airlines. Before it's merger with U.S. Air, Piedmont was the 6th largest airline in the United States in terms of passengers flown. He was also a prominent figure in the business world of North Carolina. While R.J. Reynolds may have put Winston-Salem on the map, it was said that Tom Davis "showed us all how to get there."
