Son and heir to Sir Philip Wentworth and Mary Clifford, grandson of Sir Roger Wentworth and Margery Despenser, Sir John Clifford and Elizabeth Percy. Direct descendant of Henry Hotspur and Sir Hugh le Depenser.

Husband of Anne Say, daughter of Sir John Say and Elizabeth Cheyne. They had two sons and four daughters; Sir Richard, Edward, Elizabeth wife of Roger Darcy and Sir Thomas Wyndham and Sir John Bouchier, Margery wife of Sir John Seymour and mother of Queen Jane Seymour, Dorothy wife of Sir Robert Broughton and Jane.

Secondly, he was the husband of Elizabeth Neville, daughter of Sir John Neville and Isabel Ingaldesthorpe, widow of Sir Thomas Scrope who died in 1493. They were married in Deighton, Yorkshire by licence dated 22 Oct 1494, and had no issue.

Sir Henry was in the King's army in France in 14745.

Sir Henry left a will dated 17 August 1499, proved 27 Feb 1501, and was buried at Newhouse Abbey, Lincolnshire.
