DEATH HERE HELD SUICIDE
Mrs Richard Thomas Leaves Several Notes

Suicide was the verdict in this death of Mrs Richard (Ruth) Thomas here Friday. Her body was found by Carrie Scott, an employe of the Decatur hotel, as she attempted to follow instructions in a note attached to the hotel room door in which Mrs Thomas asked that she be awakened at 2 p.m.

Although the personal history of Mrs Thomas was not available at noon today it was thought that she was about 36 years old, a native of Louisville, Ky, and a resident of Evansville.

Before taking an undetermined lethal medicant she had prepared several letters. One of these described to her sister-in-law, Mrs Roy Beeson, the method of burial she preferred; one was to Mrs Beulah Withers, hotel operator, and expressed her regrets at the inconvenience she would cause the hotel and a third to her sister, Mrs Thelma Sheets, at Beford, and has not been delivered.

She had packed all of her belongings in a large suitcase and two smaller pieces of luggage, placed her room in order and was thought to have been beginning a manicure when she fell to the floor beside the dressing table.

Richard Thomas, Greensburg native was married to the deceased about 18 years ago. He had not been located or informed of the death at noon today.

Mrs Thomas registered at the hotel here last Saturday. Acting Coroner E A Porter, of Westport, pronounced the death a suicide. The investigation was by that official and police.
