JOHNSONVILLE - Thomas T. Burgan, Jr., 83, of St. Monical's Lane, died Saturday, February 6, 1999 at his residence following a long illness. Born in Troy, he was the son of the late Thomas T. Burgan, Sr. and the former Emma Jane Turner, and the husband of Madeline E. Grogan Burgan, who survives.

Mr. Burgan graduated from East Orange High School and Drake Business College in Orange, NJ. For more than 45 years, Mr. Burgan was employed by the former Penn Central Railroad, which became Amtrak, and was the owner and operator of the former Burgan's Detective Agency in Troy for more than 25 years. Mr. Burgan retired in 1975.

A resident of Johnsonville for more than 33 years, Mr. Burgan was a member of the Johnsonville United Methodist Church and a 45 year member of the United Transportation Union Local #0349. Among his many hobbies, Mr. Burgan enjoyed sailing his boat and was an avid animal lover, adopting and caring for many stray dogs throughout his lifetime.
