Sherbie, 63, formely of Springfield, Ohio, passed away Thursday, Aug. 18, 2011 at the Georgetown University Medical Center. He was called home to be with the Lord. He was the first born to James and Teresa Smith in Goodwater, Alabama, on May 24, 1948. He accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as his savior at an early age. He graduated from South High School in 1966. Sherbie serve his country in the United States Army in 1968. In 1991, Sherbie relocated to Washington, DC. In 1994, Sherbie was employed with the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (METRO),. He worked as a Bus Operator and later became a Train Operator. Motivated by his continued love for the Lord Jesus Christ, Sherbie and his family joined the Mt. Ennon Baptist Church in Clinton, Maryland in 2006. He leaves to cherish his memories, his devoted wife: Michele Knight-Smith; parents James and Teresa Smith; five children: Shawn Smith, Shelly Browning (Kurt), Dawn Smith, Derrick Knight and Brandon Smith; his brother: Wali Shamsid-Deen; two sisters: Clemetine Bray (Alan), and Maxine Smith; his niece: Shantel Brown; two nephews: Tyrone Smith and Wali McLeod; great nephew: Jayce Woods; and a host of other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his nephew Torrance Smith. Memorial Services to be held Sat., Sept. 17, 2011 at 1p.m. at Highlight Baptist Church, 909 S. Western Ave. Springfield, Ohio
