Sarah Burridge was born in Perry, Ohio, October 22, 1824. She fell asleep at her home in Painesville March 25, 1901, being of age seventy-six years, five months and three days. She was the sixth of nine children all of whom lived to what might be called a good old age. Four of the family, two brothers and two sisters, Mrs. Betsy Stockwell and Mr. David Burridge of Painesville; Mrs. A. H. Garfield, of Denver, Colorado, and Mr. Eleazar Burridge, of Mentor, are still living. Nearly her whole life has been spent in Painesville. She has spent a quiet home life unselfishly devoted to her friends prefering this to any prominent part in social or public activities.
She united with the Church of Christ in Mentor about forty-five years ago under the preaching of Dr. W. A. Belding. She afterward removed her membership to the church at Painesville. Her last illness was short and death came suddenly and unexpected except in the last few days when she failed very rapidly.
