Former Woodstock, NY councilman, keyboardist for the rock group, Mountain. He performed with Mountain at the Woodstock Festival in 1969. He wrote the town of Woodstock's official song, 'Valley Finale' He is survived by his daughter Zoe Knight, her husband, Stuart Wolferman, and his grandson, Jasper Knight Wolferman.Steve Knight is best known for being the keyboard player in the hard-rock band Mountain, even playing on their hit "Missisippi Queen". He played on the albums "Climbing!", "Nantucket Sleighride", "Flowers Of Evil", and "The Road Goes Ever On". He also played in the jazz bands, Takism, The Devil's Anvil and a folk group called Wings (not to be confused with Paul McCartney's band of the same name). After leaving Mountain in 1972, Steve played in jazz bands and worked in the construction industry. He also was a politician in upstate NY for a number of years. He died from Parkinson's disease in 2013.
