Katherine M. "Kathie" Lowe Battle Creek Katherine M. "Kathie" Lowe, 86, of Battle Creek died at Bronson Battle Creek on Thursday, May 2, 2013. Kathie was born August 1, 1926, in Mt. Clemens, Michigan to Peter A. and Margaret E. (Schieffers) Ricken. She grew up in Mt. Clemens. Her parents died when she was a child, so she went to work early in life. Kathie was employed 1951-59 at Michigan Bell Telephone and worked her way into supervision. She worked as a lunch supervisor at Verona Elementary; she loved seeing and visiting with former students later in life. Kathie was also employed at Mid-Michigan Fashions and Surgical Supply. Katherine Marie Ricken was united in marriage to Stewart Ryan Lowe in Mt. Clemens, MI on January 8, 1955. Surviving are Stewart "Mickey" her husband of 58 years; son and daughter-in-law, Michael R. and Cheri L. Lowe of Battle Creek; and grandchildren, Sara E. Lowe and Ryan J. Lowe. Kathie was preceded in death by her daughter, Janet E. Lowe on July 8, 1974; by her parents, four brothers, and three sisters. Kathie loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Memorial contributions can be made to the Pennfield Schools Memorial Fund to be used towards Athletics through Pennfield Schools, 8587 Pennfield Road, Battle Creek, MI 49017. Graveside memorial services will be held at Memorial Park Cemetery 11:00 a.m., Monday, May 6, 2013. Arrangements are by the Farley-Estes & Dowdle Funeral Home.
