Services for Janelle Ritchie Lowrance, 73, Troup, are scheduled for 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 8, 2013, at the Church of Christ, Troup, with Allen Ritchie and Jim Heath officiating. Burial will be in Pinecrest Cemetery, Troup, under direction of Cottle Funeral Home, Troup.

Mrs. Low-rance died Sunday, May 5, 2013, in a Tyler hospital. She was born April 21, 1940, in Tyler to the late Eris A. and Mary Ethel Tackett Ritchie.

Mrs. Lowrance was a retired retail secretary, and a member of the Church of Christ of Troup. She took pride in being a world Bible school teacher. Over many years she taught mainly African students, who numbered into the thousands, by mail correspondence. For her students she wrote a short book titled "I Have Just Begun The Race, Handbook For New Christians," which was published by World Bible School.

Janelle lived as a servant to the Lord, to her family, to the church and to her community.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ron Lowrance; and a sister, Judy Ritchie.

Survivors include sons, Dr. Marcom E. Herren and wife April, Wichita Falls; Eric Ritchie Herren, Katy; Ashley J. Hembree, Troup; brothers, Eris Ritchie Jr. and wife Annita, Cisco; and Dr. Joe T. Ritchie and wife Ann, Salado; stepson, Dr. Tom Hembree, Wells; six grandchildren, Jennifer Granberry, Austin, Rachel Montgomery, Waco, Parker Herren, Wichita Falls, Jessica Herren, College Station, Emily Herren, College Station, and Hayden Herren, Katy.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, May 7, 2013.
