Mr. Smelser was a World War II veteran, having served in the US Navy. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and taking drives in the country. He was a service station attendant for Home Service Oil for twenty-eight years.
Mr. Smelser was the father of Ronald (Carolyn) Smelser of DeSoto; grandfather of Amanda and Amy; and great-grandfather of Johnathon, Preston, Corrine and Julien.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his dear wife, Ruby Smelser, two brothers and three sisters.
