Willa Ruth Burgess, 46, 2015 Rosewood Drive, died Tuesday at St. John's Medical Center after an extended illness.
She was born March 10, 1945 in New Madrid, Mo. and had lived in Anderson 30 years. She had been employed in advertising at K-mart.
She was a member of Power House Church of God in Christ, Y.P.W.W. President and District Y.P.W.W. Field Worker, State Area 1 Choir, Presiden of Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction of Indiana and worked closely with the Sunshine Band.
Survivors include her parents, Elder Louis and Indiana Burgess, nine sisters Schneida Burgess, Winifred Burgess, Virgie Hale, Shirley Powell, Corine W Wilkerson, Irene Wright and Darlene Perry all of Anderson, Rosie Stevens of Shreveport, La and Dorothy Mae Spriggs of East St. Louis, Ill.. three brothers, Louis Burgess JR and James Burgess both of Anderson, and Steve Burgess of Lafayette; an uncle and five aunts and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be at noon Saturday at Power House Church of God in Christ with Bishop John T Dupee officiating. Burial will be at Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery.
Friends may call 6 to 9pm Friday at the church.
Brooks Memorial Chapel is handling the arrangements.
