Bernard E. Hissam, 87, of Vienna, died April 29, 2013, at Presbyterian Hospital in Charlotte, N.C.

He was born in Sistersville, the son of the late Arlie and Gladys Hissam. After his junior year at Sistersville High School, he enlisted in the United States Navy and served in the Pacific Theatre from 1944 to 1946. After the war, he completed high school and worked for Monongahela Power in various West Virginia towns for 42 years. He ended his career at Monongahela Power in Parkersburg as a Business Development Manager. He was a former President of the Parkersburg Chamber of Commerce and a longtime avid golf member of the Parkersburg Country Club.

He is survived by his son, Mark Hissam and his wife Julia of Medford, Ore.; his daughters, Nancy Cole and her husband Gary of Charlotte, N.C., Linda Farrenkopf and her husband Martin of Columbus, Ohio, and Amy Rivers and her husband Greg of Charlotte, N.C.; and his grandchildren, Ben, Danny, Gretchen and Holt. He is also survived by his brothers and sister, Kenneth, Emel, Hadge, Jim, Bill and Wanda. He was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Naomi.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
