The sudden death of Miss Veronica McKenna, the youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. P. McKenna, well known farmers Bear Blessing, came as a great shock to the wide circle of friends, Deceased was in excellent health and spirits until Saturday when she became suddenly ill a physician was called, but was unable to do anything for the girl, who lay unconscious most of the time until her death Sunday afternoon at 1 :40 o clock. Miss McKenna was seventeen years of age and had spent all her life in the vicinity of Blessing.

She was born April 6, 1898 and is survived by her parents and the following sisters and brothers: Mrs. C. R Mahoney, Hudson; Mrs. William. Duffy, Blessing; Mrs. Elizabeth Emerson Waterloo; Mrs. T. T. Cranny. Grinnell; Charles McKenna, LaPorte; Mrs. R E. White, Oakland, California; Mabel and LeRoy, still at home. The remains were laid to rest in the Blessing cemetery Tuesday morning. Four beautiful hymns were sung during the services by Walter and Clara Witry, Florence and Dora Klein and Florence McGarvey, of Eagle Center, intimate young friends of deceased. Miss Amy Conry presided at the organ. The beautiful floral offerings from her many friends showed the love and esteem with which she was held in the community. A beautiful and touching sermon was eloquently rendered by Rev. Father Sampson, the home pastor.

The outsiders who attended were: Mr. and Mrs. Tom Quinn, of St. Paul; Mrs. Frances Alexander and son Walter, of Pipestone, Minnesota; Mr. and Mrs. Tom Daily and John Leahy, of Rochelle. Illinois; Mrs. Kate Gleason and daughters, Verna and Marie, Mr. and Mrs. Chris Cavanaugh, Mr. and Mrs. William Cavanaugh, Mrs. Mary McDermott, Waterloo; Mr. and Mrs. Pat Cavanaugh, Dewar; Mrs. J. E. Smith. Epworth. Iowa. All the family was present but Mrs. R. E. White, of California, who was unable to get here.
