Lois B. Smith, 66, a loving wife, mother and grandmother, passed peacefully at the Winchester Medical Center, May 9, 2013. She courageously battled melanoma cancer for 12 years. She was a Charles Town resident, and a longtime resident of Jefferson County.
Lois was born Sept. 23, 1946. She was the daughter of the late Charles Thomas Brewer and Lillian Virginia (Maphis) Brewer.
Mrs. Smith retired after 33 years of service as District Manager of AmeriGas Inc. She was also a Teacher's Aide at South Jefferson School from 1974 to 1978.
She was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church. She was also a graduate of Charles Town High School, class of 1964.
She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Robert Lee "Bob" Smith Sr., at home; one son, Rodney Keith Smith and wife, Stacy, of Charles Town; four grandchildren, Jennifer Nichole McNutt, Montana Jean Silveous, Cole Thomas Smith, and Shelby Reese Smith; and her brother, Col. Charles Wayne Brewer of Fairfax, Va. She is also survived by nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Robert Lee Smith Jr.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, May 13, at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Shepherdstown, with the Rev. Dr. Fred A. Soltow Jr. officiating. Interment will be at Pleasant View Memory Gardens, Martinsburg.
