Kenneth Lee Dorris, Sr. 69, of Abilene passed away at a local hospital on May 4, 2013.

A service will be held Tuesday, May 14, 2013 at 11:30 a.m. in the Piersall Chapel, 733 Butternut Street with Jonathan Storment officiating. Burial will follow at the Texas State Veterans Cemetery.

Kenneth was born to Herman Emil Dorris and Doris Olive Carlson in Harlingen, Texas on December 3, 1943.

He graduated from Pharr-San Juan-Alamo ISD and attended college briefly before joining the Air Force where he served for 8 years. Some of his Air Force time he was stationed in Abilene. After being honorably discharged from the Air Force in 1970 he lived in several places then returned to make his home in Abilene 30 years ago. He was involved in the VFW in Houston and enjoyed hunting, fishing and NASCAR. He loved the Dallas Cowboys and was a great bowler. He even won a few tournaments.

Kenneth is survived by his sons Kenneth Lee Dorris, Jr. and wife Marie, Kevvin Noahh Dorris and wife Savannah, a daughter Debbra Farley and husband James, a brother Dennis Ray Dorris and a step-brother Ted DuPaul, two half sisters Charlene DuPaul, and Dorene Byrd and husband David, a special aunt Berneile Matera, 6 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren as well as many other extended family members and close friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife Izetta Maureen Scott.
