Daughter of Oscar Baker and Margaret B. Clear.

Sarah and her four younger brothers and sisters, Elizabeth, [Valentine] Frank, Josephine, and Thomas, all died of diphtheria in December 1889. Their parents, who had already lost infant twins in 1882, never had any more children.

Oscar Baker's parents had also died within eight days of each other in 1887, his father of pneumonia and his mother of a stroke.

Sarah is almost certainly buried at Oak Hill Cemetery in Washington with her parents, siblings, and grandparents but there is no official record of her burial there.
