BLACK MOUNTAIN - Emma Elida Edney, 93, of Vance Avenue, died on Wednesday, Jan. 13, 1999, at Park Ridge Hospital.

A native of Buncombe County, she was the daughter of the late Harley and Harriet Reimer Edney. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Swannanoa. She was also a retired employee of Beacon Manufacturing.

She was preceded in death by her loving brothers, Harley Edney and Frank Allen; sisters, Hester Sells, Jenny Sells and Georgie Thomas; and her devoted nephew, James Hart of Long Island, N.Y.

Miss Edney is survived by her sister, Carolyn Clippard of Black Mountain; two nephews, Herman Clippard of the home and Marion Hart of Sandstone, Minn; and her devoted God-children, Nick and John Becker of Black Mountain.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in the chapel of Williams Funeral Service with Dr. Jerry Pereira officiating. Interment will be in the Piney Grove Cemetery.

The family will receive friends 7 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
