Leeta Benson Power, 86, of Summerville, widow of Charles Henry Power died Wednesday, March 30, 2011, at The Village at Summerville.
Mrs. Power was born in Camden, Ark. on April 13, 1924, a daughter of the late Frederic Preston Benson and Leeta Marie Gardenhire Benson.
She lived in Georgetown for a number of years, where she was employed by the Georgetown County School District as Secretary of Bynum School and the Special Services Dept. from 1964 – 1986.
Mrs. Power was an active member of Georgetown Presbyterian Church and served her church in a number of positions.
She was a former President of the women of the church, a Presbyterian Women Honorary Lifetime Member, Session Member, and Sunday School Teacher.
Mrs. Power was also a member of Leila Ford Sunday School Class of the church.
In addition to her husband, Mrs. Power was predeceased by a daughter, Carolyn Jenkins (John).
Surviving are a daughter, Frances P. Rice (Forrest) of Warrenville, Ill.; two sons, Charles H. Power, Jr. (Alma) and F. Benson Power (Jean), both of Georgetown; seven grandchildren; Michael Perrin (Eraina), Andrew Jenkins, Emily Jenkins, Sharon Rice, Faith Power, Chuck Power, and Joshua Power ; and a great-grandson, Benjamin Perrin.
Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. on Sunday afternoon, April 10, 2010.
Officiating will be the Rev. Stephen H. Wilkins, the Rev. John Jenkins, and the Rev. Sharon Rice.
