"Paul W Blakeslee, 66, well-known area farmer, died yesterday morning at his Spartansburg, RD 3, home after a long illness. He was born July 11, 1895, in Concord Township, Erie County, the son of Guy and Hettie Darrow Blakeslee. Mr Blakeslee was in the US Army during World War I, serving overseas in France. He was a member of the VFW of Union City and the Spartansburg Volunteer Fire Department. On Feb 6, 1935, he married Rosaline Dempsey, who survives, along with one daughter, Mrs Russell Young of Spartansburg, RD 3; two sons, Paul J Blakeslee of Spartansburg, RD 3, and Douglas Blakeslee of Camp Drum, NY; five grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs Arthur Scouten of Spartansburg, RD 2, and Mrs Paul Scouten of Spartansburg, RD 3; and one brother, Milton Blakeslee of Spartansburg, RD 2. Friends may call....at the H Richard Hays Funeral Home in Spartansburg and attend the funeral service there at 2 pm Saturday. Rev Lawrence T Meneely, pastor of the Spartansburg Methodist Church, will offficiate. He will be assisted by Joseph McCray. Interment will be in Rose Hill Cemetery, Spartansburg. Members of the John Krol Post, VFW, of Union City will be in charge of the graveside service."
