Lowell Lawrence Randle, only son of Frank Randle and Della Buettel.

Lowell drown while bathing with friends in Putah Creek at Dixon. He did not know how to swim well. His friends tried to rescue him without success. He was only 17 years old.

Just the month before, his mother Della Randle died from burns she received when a gas stove she was carrying outside exploded. A very tragic month for the Randle family.

DIXON BOY GOES OUT OF DEPTH AND DROWNS Special to the Union. DIXON (Solano Co.), July 6. -- Lowell Randle, aged 17 years, son of Frank Randle of this city, was drowned today in Putah creek, while bathing with some companions. Young Randle was not a good swimmer and went into where it was fourteen feet deep and sank. Two of the boys swimming in the same pool saw him disappear and knowing he was unable to swim tried to save him. Mrs. Frank Randle, mother of Lowell Randle, died a few weeks ago from burns received in the explosion of a gasoline stove.
