Dallas A. Watkins Dies In Sycamore
Funeral Services Have Not Been Set
"Dallas A. Watkins 76, a well known Sycamore Valley farmer for many years, died Monday afternoon at 2:40 o'clock at his home in Sycamore. Mr. Watkins had been in poor health for several years, but his condition did not become critical until about a week ago. The body was taken to the Webb funeral home where funeral arrangements are pending on word from relatives coming from a distance. Services will be conducted from the Webb chapel and interment will be in Mt. Hope cemetery.
The deceased was born Dec. 8, 1873, at Terre Haute, Ind., and in the year 1882 moved to the Sycamore Valley district where he lived until moving to Sycamore five years ago.
He was married to Maude Mayo Dec. 22, 1897 in Independence and was a member of the Sycamore Valley Methodist Church.
Surviving relatives include his widow, Mrs. Maude Watkins of the home; three daughters, Mrs. Hollis Jackson, rural Sycamore, Mrs. Maude (should be Irene) Hopping of Sterling, and Mrs. Frank Shaw(should be Schul) of McPherson; two sisters, Mrs. Lulu Baker, 212 East Cottonwood, and Mrs. Charles Dillman of Compton, Calif., formerly of this city; and five brothers, Ben Watkins of this city, Fred, of Hollywood, Calif.; Ed, San Miguel, Calif.,; Pearl, Towanta, Calif., and Abner who also resides in California."
