Born in Heckley Furnace,Centre County;he was the son of Owen & Mary Austin. He was married to Arvilla Letts,the daughter of T.W. Letts. He was residing in Reynoldsville,working on the Low Grade Railroad as a Brakeman.

Arrangements were made in Penfield,in Clearfield County,Pennsylvania and his body was shipped to Reynoldsville then returned to Penfield for burial
