Russell A. Carey was a Private in the United States Army, assigned to (1st Battalion, C Company, 117th Infantry Regiment, 30th Infantry Division "Hickory".

Russell was KIA in Mariadorf, Germany during the attack on Aachen, on Nov. 17 1944, and he is honored with the Purple Heart, Good Conduct Medal, American Campaign Medal, Army Presidential Unit Citation, European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal, WW II Victory Medal.

He was first buried at The Netherlands American Cemetery and Memorial in Margraten, The Netherlands.

He was adopted by my Dad in 1945.
