A native of Rockingham County, she was a daughter of the late Frank J. and Myrtle Bowman Aheron and had lived in Rockingham County her entire life. She was a retired employee of Brookside Shirt Factory and a member of Covington Memorial Wesleyan Church. She was preceded in death by her husband: Robert Wilson Chaney, Sr., and a brother Ray Aheron.
