GEORGIA, VT. - Verna Irene (Shepard ) Martelle, age 92, passed away on Saturday, June 19th 2021 at her home.
She was born on September 14th 1928 in South Burlington, Vt., she was the daughter of Vernon George and Sara Lucille (Blair) Shepard, one of ten children.
She married her 1st husband Watson Edward Hill on September 14th 1946 in Burlington, Vermont. Together they had three children; one son and two daughters.
Verna married her 2nd husband Ralph Arnold Martelle on December 27th 1958 in Littleton, New Hampshire. Together they had one daughter. They were together for 46 years before he passed away on December 3rd 2005 in Henderson, Nevada.
She enjoyed her employment at Maternities, Inc. in Burlington, Vt. as a Seamstress for 23 years and later worked at the Fanny Allen Hospital sterilizing instruments and equipment from where she retired in 1990.
Verna loved being with family, solving crossword puzzles, reading, crocheting, and flowers.
Along with her husband; Ralph, she was predeceased by one son; Daniel "Dan" Watson Hill on October 27th 2016, one son-in-law; Ronald Sweet, four brothers; Richard, Vincent, Warren, and Robert Shepard, and four sisters; Hilda Sanderson, Rita Leno, Barbara Smith, and Betty Brunelle.
