Ella Winter was born Ella Alma Mordt on August 8, 1915 in the Camp Branch vicinity of Warren County, Missouri (near Hawk Point) to Henry and Meta (Winter) Mordt. She passed away quietly in Scottsdale, Arizona on May 26, 2010.
In 1939, Ella married F. Edward Winter. Together, they attended Palmer Chiropractic College in Davenport, Iowa. The family only recently learned that although she never practiced herself, Ella had graduated with a Doctor of Chiropractic degree. Ella enjoyed amazing good health throughout her life, and attributed her great health to being married to a chiropractor.
During WWII Ella proudly contributed as a Rosie-the-Riveter on the Curtiss-Wright Airplane production line.
No matter where Ed and Ella lived, Overland (St Louis) and Owensville in Missouri, Glendale and Sun City in Arizona, Ella's home was the stopover for good food and hospitality for friends and family. She had a special ability to speak her mind, yet never say an unkind word to anyone. Ella was a lifelong member of the Methodist Church.
