Holder of the silver star Metal For Gallantry in action in Germany in WWII he was the first patient of Altoona VA Hospital and owner of Alcotts Garage and Used car lot died at his home today. He was born in Altoona Son of Edward and Missouri (Cochran) Alcottand married Lousie Gregg Jan 25th 1934
surviving are his wife and one daughter Mrs Valorie Szink of Altoona and one brother Paul of Canoe Creek.
On Jan 31 1945 in the vinicity of Hofen Germany PFC Alcott distinguished himself by galantry in action by maintaing his heavy machine gun post against a overwhelming opposition by the enemy for this he was awarded the silver star second highest combat award.
he entered the army Jan 6 1944 and after training he was assigned to nith division which participated in the campaigns at Remagen and Ruhr pocket and in the Harz Mountain.
In addition to the silver star he held the European Theater of war metal with three stars and a Spearhead Good Conduct metal and the Victory Metal.
On sept 18 1950 he was the first patient to be admitted to the then just completed V A hospital
