Daniel was the sixth child of Daniel and Agnes. He arrived in Quebec August 22,1847 along with his brothers, sisters and mother from Ireland. He was twelve years old at the time and lived with his mother at Lot 12, Con 10, near Belfast, Ontario. In 1869, Daniel bought this farm from his mother. He was already married to Caroline by this time and had two children. In 1877, he sold this farm and bought a sawmill and 34 acres in Coo Coo Valley about two miles from his farm. It In about 1886, Daniel moved with his family to Grindstone, Michigan. Daniel's oldest girl, Louise's husband died in a tragic accident in her father's sawmill. She was pregnant and sent with Grindstone with her family. Daniel and Catherine farmed at Grindstone which is located up on the thumb of Michigan, They had ten children all born near Belfast, Ontario except Samuel Wesley who was born after they moved to Michigan.
There is a biography in the Plat Book of Huron County Michigan 1904 that has a biography of Daniel that has many errors in it. Not sure of the source of that biography but discounted by documents that family members have.
