DeWitt Clinton Bruce

DeWitt Clinton Bruce, aged 71, of Plaingrove Township, R.D. 2, Volant, died at the family residence at 8:15 p.m. June 10, following a one and a half years illness. Born in Plaingrove Township, November 19, 1878, a son of Riley and Sara Holliday Bruce. He had been a lifelong resident of the community and had served as a carpenter by occupation. Mr. Bruce was a member of the Plaingrove Lodge of the I. O. O. F. Lodge No. 1047 for the past 50 years. Surviving are two brothers, Harvey and Willis Bruce of Oklahoma; three nieces, Mrs. Mary Currier, Chambersburg, Pa.; Mrs. Dan Urey, Sandy Lake, Pa.; Mrs. Thomas McCormick, Harlansburg and a nephew George Bettenbaugh, R. D. 3. Funeral services are planned for Tuesday at 2 p.m. from the McClelland funeral home in Harlansburg, with Rev. Fred Cochran of the Plaingrove Presbyterian church officiating. Burial will follow in Plaingrove U. P. cemetery. Friends will be received at the funeral home this evening, from 7 to 9 o'clock.
