Eldon Perry "Eck" Allen, 84, of 205 Daniel Circle, passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, May 16, 2013. He was born January 10, 1929 in Galax, VA to the late J. J. Allen and Birdie Quesinberry Allen.

He attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and was active in the alumni association. Eck honorably served his country in the US Navy and the US Air Force, where he retired as a Major. He worked as chief geologist with the NC Geological Survey with 30 years of service. He served as the president of the Carolina Geological Society, the chairman of the Carolina section of the Society of Mining Engineers, the state president of the North Carolina Air Force Association, as well as the president of Tarheel Chapter 207 of the Air Force Association. He was also a charter member of Green Pines Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Hanson Allen and Hayden Allen; sisters, Brenda A. Pagano, Audrey A. Buckney and Elizabeth Carolyn Allen.
