SARANAC/PLATTSBURGH — Joyce W. Favaro, 88, formerly of Saranac and presently of Beekman Towers, Plattsburgh died Thursday, May 16, 2013 at CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh with family by her side. She was born in Saranac Lake on March 25, 1925, the daughter of Roy and May Witherbee.
Joyce attended school in Saranac Lake and was employed for many years at F. W. Woolworth. She was a daycare provider after Woolworth's closed.
She is survived by her children and grandchildren. Brent and Ella Favaro and their children, Erika (Rob) Tara; Donna Favaro and her children, Hollie and Tyler; Mark Favaro and his son, Jamie (Tracie); Todd and Wennie Favaro; April and Jeff Gonyea and their children Corey and Samantha; Jackie Jones and her family, Renee and Raymond, the children of Raymond (Butch) Strack Jr. She is predeceased by her husband, Eugene F. Favaro, whom she married on June 30, 1949; her sons, Raymond (Butch) Strack, Jr. and Scott W. Favaro; and her grandson, Dean Strack; her siblings June and Elaine; and her parents also died before her.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 22, in the Saranac Independence Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Arrangements have been entrusted to Heald Funeral Home, 48 Court Street, Plattsburgh.
