When I was in first grade, way back when, a little girl with short dark hair, freckles, a great big smile & pale blue eyes shared the class. She started school later than most of us & was accompanied everywhere by her younger sister.

I remember being told Betty had a brain tumor that caused her to be almost blind. Years passed, and we had moved away, but I still remember the day Betty died.

Some people leave a lasting impression on the world, Betty was one of those special people. She sings with the angels...

Betty's Dad, George Curtis Beaver, gave the information for her death certificate all those years ago, and Dr. Wyan Washburn took care of her during her last hospitalization at Royster Memorial in Boiling Springs, Cleveland County, NC. Dr. Washburn stated she had suffered a cerebral hemorrhage some 6 days prior to her passing. He said Betty, an 8th grade student, had fought cystic craniopharyngioma for 11 years.

Thank you Patti for sharing this photo of Betty and her family. I find my memory of her beautiful little face is crystal clear. She's frozen in time exactly as remembered. May you be blessed...
