Howard was living in a Veterans Hospital in Colorado when I last talked with him in May 1999.
Howard said he spent a long time in the South Pole,U.S. Army, working in a weather station. Very nice man, I enjoyed talking with him .He also had a great sense of humor, he told me there is a million dollars difference in Palm Beach and West Palm Beach, if you have a million dollars you live in Palm Beach, if you don't have a million, you live in West Palm Beach.

Howard had a mountain named after him.
